Last week, the World Health Organization was out campaigning at the UN General Assembly; calling on countries to hike taxes on alcohol and soft drinks by at least 50%.
That’s not what a health agency is meant to do. Not when YOU are footing the bill!
Dr Tedros wheeled out Billionaire Mike Bloomberg and Barbados’ Prime Minister Mia Mottley to support him. Mottley is the one who demanded $4.9 trillion in reparations from former slave-owning nations and scrapped the monarchy under suspected Chinese pressure. No wonder she is already being tipped as the next WHO Director-General.
The crusade against alcohol, even in moderation, was apparent when its Regional Director for the Western Pacific declared, “Alcohol leaves a mark. And together, we will work to erase it — for good.”
The WHO is now a campaign group for prohibition – and we most definitely oppose that!
